"What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"

We are Charlie and Naomi. It is probably fair to say that our path hasn’t been entirely conventional: a two year cross hemisphere relationship between Melbourne and London with far flung dates in Brighton, Japan, Sydney and Prague. All before the real adventure, a leap of faith and now a happy little flat in South West London just big enough for the three of us (us two, and Turnip. The tortoise).

So, what next?

We have spent the past 18 months chasing down the perfect, crazy life in the big smoke. Then, on a drunken night dancing Charlie leaned over and said that he wanted to do something “remarkable”.

The chase will still be waiting. We still have all the freedom and no big anchoring responsibilities (save for a pet dinosaur who I am sure will be well cared for – thanks Mum). So, why not step away from the commute crush, faces in armpits, and even the odd elbow to the temple and go and find our remarkable?

We have both done our fair share of bumbling around the world, including adventures with a cause. So this had to be bigger. Like, Africa big.

Africa. The biggest of adventures, a whole world of causes to support along the way, wonderful people to meet, and epic places to see. And the sprinkle of remarkable? Bicycles. Two wheels each. Two legs each. Pure peddle power. Just the two of us from the Equator to the Cape, through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa.

We are Charlie and Naomi, cycling from the Equator to Cape Town. Along the way, we are raising money for the Egmont Trust, which supports  grassroots organisations that alleviate the devastating impact of HIV & AIDS on vulnerable children and their families in sub-Saharan Africa.
